Location
The Moorish Castle stands on a granite hilltop within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, in the parish of Santa Maria e São Miguel, Sintra, Portugal. The medieval fortification occupies one of the highest points of the Sintra Mountains, with its distinctive walls integrating granite blocks with natural boulders and cliff formations across a 450-meter perimeter.
From the castle ramparts, the view extends over the historic center of Sintra, the Palace of Pena on the neighboring summit, and the Atlantic coastline. The entrance sits approximately 200 meters from the Palace of Pena along the same mountain ridge. The historic center of Sintra lies 1.5 kilometers downhill to the north.
